New York State continues to face a severe and escalating substance use crisis. Recent data reveal that approximately 2.8 million New Yorkers aged 12 and older struggle with substance use disorders (SUD), with opioid-related overdoses driving a dramatic surge in fatalities.

Between 2019 and 2021, opioid overdose deaths in New York increased by nearly 68%, reaching rates that exceed the national average. In 2023 alone, over 3,000 New Yorkers lost their lives to opioid overdoses.

Despite the urgent need for effective treatment, not all addiction clinics in New York provide the comprehensive, personalized care necessary for lasting recovery. Many facilities fail to address co-occurring mental health issues, lack specialized programs for diverse populations, or don’t provide adequate aftercare support.

That is where we come in. Long Island Interventions distinguishes itself as a trusted leader in addiction treatment on Long Island and the greater New York area. With a commitment to personalized, evidence-based care, we offer a wide range of treatment options tailored to individual needs.

Our Approach to Treatment

At Long Island Interventions, we understand that treatment isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.

People respond differently to various therapies, environments, and levels of care; some thrive in a structured inpatient setting, while others respond better to flexible outpatient programs.

To address these differences, we take an evidence-based approach that combines clinical expertise with personalized care to guide our clinical decision-making.

Here are the various treatment options we cover and how we use them to promote healing:

Residential and Inpatient Treatment

Residential and inpatient treatment programs provide 24/7 care in a controlled, structured environment.

These programs are best suited for individuals who need a higher level of support during the early stages of recovery. They offer a safe space away from triggers, distractions, or temptations, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery.

Treatments are as follows:

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab offers intensive, around-the-clock care for individuals struggling with severe addiction. It’s specifically designed for clients who require an intense level of therapy due to years of substance abuse, as well as those who have been diagnosed with co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD.

Many of our patients in this program have reached a point where addiction has taken a significant toll on their ability to take care of themselves, leaving them physically and emotionally drained. Others lack a stable support system from families and loved ones, making it difficult for them to take the first step towards healing outside clinical settings.

Our job is to give them the structure they need to begin healing from the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of addiction.

Inpatient rehab is often short-term and intensive, offering acute medical care or stabilization to individuals dealing with severe addiction or mental health conditions.

Once the patient’s condition is stabilized, they may transition to residential treatment, partial hospitalization, or outpatient treatment.

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment involves residing at our specialized facilities for an extended period, usually spanning several weeks to months. It’s designed for individuals who don’t require 24/7 medical supervision but still benefit from a supportive setting.

Patients who undergo residential treatment receive a structured schedule, group and individual therapy, and community-based rehabilitation.

Long-term Drug Rehab

Also known as long-term residential treatment, our long-term drug rehab program involves a stay of at least 90 days in a highly structured treatment facility.

This program heavily focuses on relapse prevention, providing patients with the tools and coping strategies needed to maintain sobriety in the long term.

Long-term drug rehab is particularly beneficial for individuals with chronic addiction or those who have not found success in shorter treatment programs.

Sober Living

Sober living, also known as sober homes or sober living environments, provides a safe, substance-free environment for patients transitioning from inpatient or residential treatment.

Residents are free to come and go as they please but must follow a strict curfew and regularly participate in therapy sessions, meetings, and other recovery-related activities. The goal is to gradually reintegrate into society while maintaining sobriety.

Outside sober homes, our facility also offers support services to help individuals maintain their sobriety as they adjust to a life outside of rehab. This includes:

  • Sober coaches: Provide one-on-one guidance and support to help patients stay focused on their recovery goals
  • Sober companions: Offers emotional support and companionship, especially at a client’s weakest moments.
  • Transportation Services: Transportation to and from therapy sessions, support meetings, and emergency locations (business meetings, hospitals, court buildings, funerals, etc.)

Outpatient Programs

Outpatient program is a type of treatment conducted outside a hospital or residential facility. It includes:

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Also known as an intensive outpatient treatment (IOT) program, IOP is a structured psychological treatment program that often involves multiple therapy sessions per week. These sessions may include individual therapy, group counseling, and/or relapse prevention planning.

Evening IOP

Designed for patients who work or attend school during the day. It provides the same level of care as our daytime IOP but with evening scheduling to accommodate busy lives.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

PHP is our most intensive outpatient option, offering full-day treatment several days a week while allowing clients to return home in the evenings. It’s a step-down from inpatient care or a step-up from IOP for those needing more clinical support.

Specialized Treatment Options

Our specialized treatment options are designed to meet specific personal, spiritual, and clinical needs. These programs can be integrated into a broader treatment plan or as a focused recovery approach.

12-Step Program

Based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, our 12-step program is a structured therapy that focuses on recovery through peer support, personal accountability, and spiritual growth.

Faith-based Rehab

Designed for individuals who wish to incorporate their spiritual beliefs into recovery. This program combines evidence-based treatment with spiritual guidance and faith-driven principles like forgiveness, surrender, and personal transformation.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based treatment approach that combines medical detoxification with counseling, peer support, and behavioral health therapies to treat opioid and alcohol use disorders.

Aftercare

Aftercare is the ongoing support and treatment given to a patient after leaving our treatment center.

Our aftercare plan involves continued counseling and therapy, relapse prevention planning, and support group participation.

Additionally, our aftercare may also involve assistance with employment and/or education and follow-up to ensure our patients stay on track with their treatment.
